SPRINGWOOD, OHIO — A local teenager is dead and her boyfriend is the prime suspect following a brutal killing inside a suburban home late Tuesday night.
Police responding to the residence found 15-year-old Tina Gray dead inside an upstairs bedroom. Her boyfriend, Rod Lane, was the only other person believed to have been inside the room when the attack occurred.
For investigators, the evidence appears straightforward.
Lane says it isn’t.
According to police, Lane has repeatedly denied killing Gray, claiming that someone—or something—else was inside the bedroom with them.
His account only gets stranger from there.

Lane reportedly told investigators that Gray appeared to struggle with an attacker he could not see before she was somehow pulled from the bed, dragged up a wall and across the ceiling.
Police have dismissed Lane’s account as implausible and are investigating whether hallucinogens or other drugs may have played a role in what he claims to have witnessed.
Investigators say there is no evidence that another person entered the bedroom, and authorities are not searching for another suspect. Lane fled the scene following the killing but was later taken into custody.
He continues to insist that he did not kill Gray.
For police, however, the circumstances leave no room for another explanation.
But Lane’s bizarre story leaves one unsettling question behind.
If Rod Lane didn’t kill Tina Gray… who did?
